| Philips audio driver:
Doesnt work in NM (no volume control so disabled recording facilities
in NM). Philips tries to help me but their e-mail support is taking a
lot of time (1 week between question and answer, etc.) I saw that NM
sp 1 solved a problem with another Philips so I thought, maybe
sp2 solves my audio problem like sp1 did for the other Philips .
Ive got a work-around though: connecting an external microphone and
using my Yamaha soundcard driver (perfect sound but I prefer to use
the build-in microphone from Philips, I paid 400 French Francs extra
for this build-in microphone, apart from the video) |

| i have compiled some instructions and software for the self-builder.
the soft is designed to control the toy via http-pages and to work in
parallel with a video program, netmeet for example. the simplest way to
bulid the hardware is to connect a swithching transistor to the parallel
port, which gives simple on-off control. more sophisticated versions witf a
16 step speed control are possible and have been tested. |
| Now I have to find a 98 machine somewhere to go mess up this thing. Worst
is it seems like pretty decent hardware when I purchased it. If companies
would just stop messing around with unnecessary skins and just build solid
application (not the auto reboot kind) PCs would be as stable as Linux. |
| The ixTV software itself is running fine, and I can capture single frames
or video to the hard disk quite well. Im using the latest version of the
software (v2.10 build 833), and have tried this under system 8.5.1 and
8.6, with quicktime 3 and 4, and with virtual memory on and off. Ive also
tried it with only the ixtv vdig, ethernet, and open transport enabled.
This is all running on a beige G3 with a 2 gb and a 4gb hd and 384 mb RAM. |
